- King Henry VIII Grammar School, Coventry
Peter has a varied general portfolio with the major emphasis on owner managed businesses that require more than just an accountant. He acts as an adviser providing practical support to clients in addition to supplying and translating financial information into a format that is meaningful to the circumstances of individual clients. He also has acquired considerable VAT knowledge and provides advice and guidance for all the firm’s clients including issues on property, construction, charities and partial exemption.
Peter has expertise in retail, manufacturing, property, construction and professional services such as veterinary surgeons and surveyors. He also has extensive experience in succession planning for family businesses to facilitate retirement and passing the baton on to the next generation.
Peter's comments:
"The key to providing good advice to clients is to understand both their businesses and their aims both short and long term. I consider myself to be a solution provider whether that is mitigating tax liabilities, achieving the successful acquisition or disposal of a business or providing timely financial information to enable clients to run their businesses more effectively and profitably.
I often get involved in the strategic planning by using the experience gained over nearly 30 years of advising many different clients utilising not just the financial, taxation and accounting knowledge acquired over that time but also the things I have learnt and continue to learn from my clients.
One of the key long term aims for many clients is to pass the business to the next generation whether that be family or internal management and I have numerous clients that are now second generation. I believe that we have a key role to play in the successful transition by achieving a tax effective exit for those retiring whilst ensuring that the ongoing business has sufficient funding to move forward. It also requires the ability to adapt as client needs change and to be open to new ideas."
Personal interests:
Peter is a keen sports enthusiast (more of the watching variety) and tries to play golf with varying degrees of success, being a member of Lutterworth golf club. He also owns a Springer spaniel that enjoys taking him and his wife for a walk!
All of our directors are totally committed to offering you an outstanding level of personal service and accessibility.
That's why we say: McCranors: Accountants You can talk to.
